The Residents
We observe the lives of the wood's residents and we have a variety of birds and animals in Geneva Wood. We have started a list of birds and animals which have been seen in the wood. If you have seen or heard any wildlife that is not already listed, please get in touch.

Geneva wood is an urban wood which was partially created by the planting of pine trees, but also has a significant number of deciduous trees. We plant native bulbs every year and have a variety of other plants and fungi that are natural to British woodland. If you have seen anything unusual in the woods please let us know and share a photograph.
As we work to improve the plantlife of the wood we hope that the diversity of animal life will increase.

A little history
Following the planting of the wood on old railway land, we believe sometime in the 1980s, a group of like-minded people got together in 2002 and, with help from Darlington Borough Council, created Geneva Wood Local Nature Reserve. 24 years on the FoGW is still going to protect and develop the wood for future generations.
Join the Wood
We are always looking for new friends to help us protect Geneva Wood. Whether you want to volunteer for a litter pick, join a walk or simply want to share your observations, we'd love to hear from you.
